A long and amazing day!

Enough time at chitchen Itza and cenote. I would recommend bringing water bottles and snacks to munch on during the day, it is a lot of going on the bus and getting off. The tour guide was very informative and the 1 hour tour at the ruins was included in the ticket fees. Bring towels, sunscreen and hats to protect from the hot sun! You will need your bathing suit for the cenote, they have changing rooms and food stalls to, of course there is always tequila!

Fraud: this tour never goes to Ik Kil Cenote
Hanqing_L
, Oct 2021
We booked this tour on Viator.com and expected the tour to take us to Ik Kil Cenote, which is the best Cenote in Cancun area according to many sources. We were never notified by anyone prior to the trip, and were only told by the tour guide on the bus back from Chichen Itza that this tour wouldn't go to Ik Kil Cenote at all. Instead, this tour took us to a different Cenote: Cenote Saamal which we never heard about and would never buy the tour if we knew this is the real cenote we were going to visit.

Everything went smoothly: excellent guides, could have skipped the lunch part and souvenirs, but Chichen archeological site, the Cenote Saamal and Valladolid are worth the trip.. no wifi, and broadband signal limited in certain areas.

Amazing Experience- Best Way to experience the Yucatan Peninsula

This is the best way to see Chichen Itza as well as do a Cenote. It was an amazing experience I will never forget. Victor was our tour guide and he was amazing. His English was perfect, so even with a mask those that only speak English can understand everything he is saying (he also speaks spanish and Mayan). As someone who loves history he was full of knowledge and never tired of my questions. He was funny, informative and professional. I am usually one to defer tour guides and do it myself. Chichen Itza has no signs in its venue and I got so much more from Victor than any sign could have explained. I highly recommend this avenue to see this Wonder of the World. The Cenote they take you to is amazing, one of the largest which includes a waterfall. Even though there were buses and buses of people, it was big enough to accommodate and didn't take from the experience. These were our two must sees- Chichen Itza and a Cenote on our trip to Mexico, this tour did both of these thing amazingly. Valladolid was an added bonus and a wonderful bonus. Its an old colonial town that you can wander around the square and see a 300 year old church and try some authentic Mexican street food. Reasons this isn't 5 stars -You are in the bus a lot!!!! We spent a total of 9 hours in the bus! Which we did not expect. Granted we were unfortunate in that they picked us up from our hotel first and dropped us off last, so most spend 1-2 hours less driving than us (we stayed at Dreams Riveria Maya). But we were gone from our hotel all day with a lot of it in the car. Chichen Itza is 3 hours from Playa del Carmen, so be aware. Bring a book or be ready to nap. -Lunch was amazing, but they stopped us at a place of vendors and it felt like the only reason we stopped was for them to sell stuff to tourists. There are vendors at Chichen Itza that sold almost the same stuff and the vendors at the location were just as aggressive. We would highly recommend this trip! But those are some things we wish we had known.

Dear Mary, Thank for taking your time and leave such a great and detailed review. We are pleased to hear you have enjoyed our shared tour to Chichen-Itza. Unfortunately, because of the specifics of the area, distances between the hotels on Riviera Maya and the distance from Playa del Carmen to Chichen-Itza, the logistics of the tour can be tricky and complicated. We are, of course, trying to do our best to optimize the logistics. Hope to see you again soon on OlMar Travel Mexico tours. Best regards, OlMar Travel Team

Coolest experience ever

My husband and I did this tour on our honeymoon and had the best time ever!!! They spoke both Spanish and English for everyone on the bus, gave us tips of things to avoid while in chichen itza and gave us a very full experience. They do try to sell you on a few things but you can just ignore it if you want to. Lunch was absolutely delicious, the tour at chichen itza was so knowledgeable then we had free time to explore, and swimming at the cenote is amazing! I would suggest eating a snack like elotes or something similar when you’re in Validolid because you get back a bit late (around 8pm) but that didn’t bother me, I had an amazing time!

Overall it's a nice experience, but too rushed.

It's a very long trip from Cancún, take snacks and lots of water. Our first stop was to have lunch. At this same location they have an over priced gift shop, my suggestion is not to purchase anything until you arrive to Chichen Itza where you can find the same souvenirs for half the price. Once you arrive to Chichen Itzq make sure you ask your tour guide to provide you with an umbrella to protect you from the strong sun rays,( we got some rain). Our third stop was the Cenote with only 1hr, you still have to get into your swim wear, rent locker and a life jacket, now you only have 30min to enjoy the Cenote. I recommended having your swim wear under your light clothes to expedite your time. Our final stop was Vallidot. This place is really nice where you can take pictures and enjoy a nice Mexican treat, but again, we only had 30min at this location. Overall it's a nice experience, but too rushed.

Dear Maria, Thank you for taking your time and tell us about your experience on our shared tour to Chichen-Itza. Unfortunately, because of the specifics of the area, distances between the hotels and the distance from Cancun to Chichen-Itza, the logistics of the tour can be tricky and complicated. Chichen-Itza is 3 hours away from Cancun (one way). Taking this into account you may understand, that it requires a strict schedule for a large group to be able to visit and enjoy all the spots. We are, of course, always trying to do our best to optimize the logistics. For those travelers seeking more personalized experience we usually recommend to book a private tour, where you will be picked up by private transport, you will have your own personal certificated guide and you will enjoy your own private experience having the opportunity to customize the tour. Please don´t hesitate to contact us, if there is anything else we can help you with. Best regards, OlMar Travel Team

Hearing the story and history from a local guide was a great experience. All the places included are amazing and make this a great option tour to choose. In one day, you experience the Mayan culture history, breathtaking Chichen Itza, ancient beautiful Valladolid, and swimming in the cold yet amazing water of a cenote. Great lunch option, spiritual and fun trip!
