Sorrento and Amalfi Coast Independent Day Trip from Naples

The trip was well organised and the driver was on time picking us up. We got to visit spectacular locations which we would not have been able to do on our own. It was a very enjoyable day.

The ride wasn’t too windy unless you’re really sensitive and our driver was great and the restaurant is great as well and adds another hour

First: views are incredible, Amalfi is unreal and you certainly will have a great experience with the landscape. They stop at a few locations for a quick photo op when you reach more panoramic vistas. Our driver was very polite, considerate driver on the winding roads, and very pleasant. What we were expecting: roughly 8 hour trip in comfortable van to 4 cities with lunch as we went in the cities. Some discussion from driver on where we were and some major sights with a brief description. However, the overall service was quite disappointing. Driver spoke little English so unlike other reviews, he really couldn’t even share the sites we were looking at or major landmarks. It was a pretty silent ride all around aside from passengers speaking to each other in each of their languages. We were in a 8 passenger van and they jammed us in there with 3 other groups. They stressed Covid precautions so I was quite disappointed that they were pushing people elbow to elbow like this. While there was Air conditioning, if you are in the back of the van, you will not feel it and you will miss out on most of the views from the van. If you are looking for pictures as you drive, the windows don’t roll down so you can’t get a clear shot without the light tint and reflection. What is not listed in the posting is that they take you to a limoncello shop with a variety of other goods to be purchased for a “tasting.” While you can taste, you will be heavily pressured into purchasing items and you really have to insist on not buying anything. And you will feel guilty about it. This is obviously a pre-arranged set up between the tour company and tasting site. This was a 30 minute stop that was not indicated up front. Lunch is not a choice, again they take you to a place with a prearranged set up for shopping and a pretty expensive menu for what is on it. The menu, understandably, was predominately seafood based and fairly limited on any other options. Each dish averaged 25€, but the wine was cheap! I will say, the food is mediocre and would have preferred a choice on where to eat, potentially in Positano and given two hours their instead. We were told Positano is too expensive, but the prices looked comparable, if not cheaper, when we looked at menus. Overall, one hour in each location is enough to get a very brief taste of each town but you have to walk fast! This was a good sightseeing expedition, but you realistically can only hit 3-4 shops before needing to walk back to the parking area each time. The trip ended up being roughly 12 hours, despite the advertised 8. Now, this isn’t bad but be aware that you can’t do anything predictably that day. Final thoughts: If you are able, book the private car for $200 per person and set your own itinerary. I know that isn’t feasible for everyone, but it would be a better experience. Again, the views will be amazing, but set expectations accordingly because the listing does not give the full view.

Great tour, just 7 pax in a van, driven by the competent, punctual, nice driver, Mauro. I had a great time with my family.

I signed for tour with an English speaker guide. The guide barely new English. I would expect the driver to walk with us through the villages and explain not just stopping and telling us where to go.

Very well organised trip from Naples with Mario our driver knowing lots of information about the area. We were picked on time from our hotel and even though the roads are very busy and a bit of a challenge our driver was very calm and relaxed. Our favourite place we visited on this trip was Ravello with a beautiful square to sit in. The trip is a full day but we had a lovely lunch at a small local restaurant Restaurante Euroconca where we had plenty of time to chat with the other six people on the trip. Highly recommend this as a way of seeing the Amalfi Coast.

My husband and I enjoyed traveling with 4 other people in a comfortable Mercedes van. Our driver Pepe was outstanding! He explained where we were going and he was an excellent driver. I expected to get motion sickness on the narrow curvy roads along the Almafi coast but I felt fine and was able to take many beautiful pictures. Our driver knew the best photo spots and the best pizza place in Amalfi! He got us home quickly, he was punctual and we had a great day!

The trip is a little costly, but worth it. Our driver shared so much info, and made at least 4 stops, which was unexpected. My husband and I were delighted with most of the trip. The drive outs California route 101 to shame. Be prepared for lots of narrow roads, many switchbacks, and steep overlooks. I would have liked our driver to drive just a but more slowly. But it’s something you should absolutely do, if you want to go to the Amalfi coast.

A good way to get a flavour of the Amalfi coast. April/May a good time to go before the summer crowds. Our Driver Giovanni was excellent.
