Aloha Lea and Mahalo for your review. We apologize if you had the feeling your Pearl Harbor visit was cut short. Out of the ~5-6 hour Pearl Harbor Tour, we usually give our guests ~2.5 hours at Pearl Harbor. All our guides are trained and explain the different sights along the way to and from Pearl Harbor. In downtown Honolulu they stop at multiple monuments and educate about the history and the meaning (King Kamehameha Statue, I'olani Palace, ALOHA Tower, etc.). Since there are only very limited tickets to the boat ride to the USS Arizona, we do not guarantee the tickets (see tour description). However, we are able to get tickets for most of the tours. IF we do not get tickets, we try to reschedule with you and even give you the chance to cancel the tour with a full refund - even though tickets are not officially part of the tour. Unfortunately the Pearl Harbor National Park Service did not inform us early enough that day, to give us the chance to call our guests in advance and offer to reschedule. As soon as we fin out the National Park Service does not run the boat to the USS Arizona Memorial, we call and text every customer. Usually this happens one day in advance. As a courtesy we even give our guests the option to cancel - even though the tickets for the boat ride are not guaranteed (see description). As a courtesy we allow the cancellation within 24 hours of the tour start, because we want our guests to be satisfied with our Pearl Harbor Tour. All our guides are educated about the history of Pearl Harbor. To make sure the quality of the tour is always outstanding, every tour with DanielsHawaii.com has a script. The many 5 Star Ratings of our tour show, the guides are knowledgeable about the history of Pearl Harbor and Hawaii. We understand the disappointment about the suspended boat ride, but we do not have control over it. Mahalo for your review. We are happy to clarify things. 1. No tourguide is allowed to give guided tours at Pearl Harbor National Service. This rule applies to EVERY tour company that does Pearl Harbor Tours. It’s unfortunate, but the regulations at Pearl Harbor only allow Tourguides to give an introduction at the park. 2. Why UBER XL is not the same Probably the most important difference - DanielsHawaii can get you tickets to the USS Arizona, UBER drivers cannot. You mentioned it in your review - the guide narrates the whole tour. Going to Pearl Harbor you learn about the interesting facts and highlights of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Our drivers are trained and know facts about all the stops and spots on the tour. The stops on the tour include the King Kamehameha Statue, the I’olani Palace, Pearl Harbor National Park and we pickup and drop off free at any hotel in Waikiki. You will also learn about interesting facts about Waikiki as you drive through. The ALOHA tower and its meaning to the people of Hawaii is another landmark we talk about. There are lots more spots to enjoy and learn about. 3. Some of the differences to UBER - our guides are trained and know the history of Pearl Harbor and the sites you get to see / most UBER drivers won’t know this - you will be transported in a spacious vehicle / biggest sized UBER vehicles are Mini-Vans - we give an introduction at Pearl Harbor national park / UBER drivers are not allowed to do that - the guide gets out at every stop to explain to you what you see / UBER drivers will not - we can get you tickets for the boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial / UBER drivers are not allowed to As you can see, comparing a tour to an UBER doesn’t really make a lot of sense. We agree, if you only want transportation to and from Pearl Harbor, UBER is one of your options. If you like to have a more interesting experience, want to learn something and make the most out of your day at Pearl Harbor National Park, a tour to Pearl Harbor is the best way to go. Aloha. You mentioned in your review what you paid for, but then asked what you paid for. We are a little confused, but happy to explain it to you: You paid for… - knowledgeable & trained guide that educates about American and Hawaiian history and can answer your questions - luxury transportation in a spacious Mercedes van - small group tour (only 4 people that day on your tour, usually up to 14) - guided stop at ALOHA Tower - guided stop at I’olani Palace - guided stop at King Kamehameha Statue - on time pick up - on time drop off - hospitality & ALOHA. Yes, you could have walked to the stops and saved the money for transportation. It’s ~13 miles to Pearl Harbor from Waikiki. Yes, you could have googled all information about the stops and be your own tourguide. Yes, you could have learned how to play the ukulele before coming to hawaii and then played it for your family while walking the 13 miles to and from Pearl Harbor (about 8 hours total - you would have needed lots of material). The pricing of our Pearl Harbor Tour is perfect. Everybody who has a feeling for high quality and an understanding of how much work it is to research, learn, prepare and present historical information in an entertaining way will love this tour. A personal note from the owner: I think DanielsHawaii offers the best Pearl Harbor tours. I am proud of my team.
