Rough Start but Finished Strong!
, Jul 2021
I must preface this review with an unfortunate issue that occured at the beginning of our scheduled tour. There was a miscommunication between Viator/Trip Advisor and the tour company (possibly a typo on the part of the tour operator when they received the booking) which resulted in the incorrect size vehicle showing up to the lobby on our tour day. Being that the vehicle was too small, and they could not locate a replacement vehicle, the tour was rescheduled for the following day. Understandably, we were very frustrated for the tour to be rescheduled and our weekly plans to be adjusted, but it's vacation, and we went with the flow. Having said that, let me tell you, the tour operator went above and beyond in taking care of the situation. They showed genuine empathy, sincere apologies, and made it right beyond our expectations. The guide, Eric, was caught between a frustrated family and his company, and did everything in his power to help us, kept constant communication between us and his company, and was incredibly concerned. This created a connection between us and him, and we specifically requested him for our rescheduled tour on the following day. He did not disappoint, and honestly without his great response to the situation, we might be writing a different review right now. I would highly recommend this company for your tour needs - mistakes happen, but their response to their mistake has made us life long customers (we travel to Cancun/Playa Del Carmen often). Onto the tour review - it was amazing! Having a private vehicle is incredibly worth it. There were 3 total people - the guide (Eric), the driver and his assistant driver (their names escape me). The driver was smooth and quick - unlike most drivers in the area. I was never concerned about accidents or speed. We got to Chichen Itza quickly and shortly after they opened. I would recommend a 6am pickup - you get to the site right after they open and it's not as hot, there's few people, and you're out by 11am - beating the worst heat. Eric did an AMAZING job explaining everything, and you could tell he was passionate about his profession. He answered all of our questions, and took us to parts of Chichen Itza that we hadn't been to before. We've down the tour bus thing before, and the guide on that tour only showed us the main temple, the ball court, and a few minor things in the main area. Eric took us deeper into the jungle and outskirts of the ruins, and explained there were other areas not available to tourists that are currently being excavated. The knowledge he gave us was spectacular, and he was friendly, inviting, and energetic. When we come back and potentially do Chichen Itza or Tulum again, we will be requesting him. After Chichen Itza, we grabbed lunch at a great restaurant in Valladolid, a city close by that we've been to before. The lunch price was NOT included in the tour, but was given to us as a courtesy because of the mishap the day before. However, they will take you to lunch, but you'll pay for it. For a party of 6, the price was approximately $70 - not bad at all. And authentic, delicious food. After lunch, we went to the Chukum Cenote. During a previous tour, we went to a HUGE tourist trap cenote that was packed and honestly uncomfortable to be in with all the people. This tour with Eric brought us to Chukum Cenote, which was EMPTY. It literally was completely private - we had it to ourselves and it was wonderful. It's a beautiful, standard cenote that was refreshing. We were hot and sweaty after a long day, and the cenote refreshed us and felt amazing. We arrived back at the hotel around 430pm. I've read other reviews on here to request so and so guide, and I'm sure they're amazing, but Eric was an incredible guy and did a fantastic job, both during a tough situation and on the actual tour. Again, without his personality and charisma, and fantastic guide abilities, we might be writing a different review. Please remember to tip your guides - they really work hard to deliver amazing experiences and are often passionate about preservation and continuing the knowledge of the area. Please factor in a tip when budgeting for this tour, it's expensive but they don't see much of that money. Overall, I highly recommend this company and this tour - you won't regret it!

Amazing experience for the family.

Claudia was the best guide. She took us on our tour, told us all about the history and culture of the Mayan people, and helped us to do our tour, our way. We had a fantastic lunch and she captured all our family memories so we could enjoy the expirence. If we expressed an interest, like Mexican chocolate, she took us to an amazing chocolate museum and helped us find great treasures without too much hassel. Our next trip to Playa del Carmen, we are going to look for Claudia again.

Chichen Itza was amazing. Our tour guide Yuri was at our hotel when she said she would be, she was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour at all locations. The food was fabulous, and the cenote was beautiful. We had not received our pictures when we expected them but once the company knew that they worked hard to get them to us.

This was a great tour well rounded, our tour guide (Yuri) really new her stuff. The only bummer was that she took pictures for us on her phone and we did not get them.

Our tour was perfect from start to end! Our guide, Mario, was friendly and knowledgeable and adjusted the trip for our comfort. We loved learning about Chichen Itza and the history of the area. The swim in the Cenote was the perfect end to the day and a gorgeous location. The food was authentic and delicious. This was the highlight of our trip for sure!

Great private tour.
, Mar 2020
Started off slightly on a wrong foot since the driver/ guide arrived to pick us up but did not come to the lobby, so we were sat for about 25 minutes. But once we met up, it was a brilliant trip. We were in a clean car, Joaquin was excellent and enthusiastic and worked around what we wanted since it was private tour. Also a safe driver. Chichen Itza was excellent. The cenote was good and don't worry if you are not a strong swimmer since every has to ear life jackets and there are ropes around the edges that you can hold on to. It is not a massive cenote. Lunch was buffet at the same place as the cenote and it has good selection and was tasty. We drove through Vallodolid visiting an old church but did not stop in the town since it was almost 37 degrees and we were tired since we woke up at 5.30. Thoroughly recommend this trip. It is not cheap as a private tour but worth doing to miss the crowds as much as you can. It is a long day but do it.
Loved it

Reuben (Ruben?) our guide brought the enthusiasm and energy and made the day fun and educational. The weather was perfect; we arrived at opening time so had many uninterrupted views. The Cenote was also amazing and the food excellent. Super service; great experience; highly recommend.
