BEST DAY I HAVE SPENT IN MEXICO!! Chef Alma was so knowledgeable and taught me so much my Sons will get to enjoy when I return home to the United States. I loved the breakfast, market and spending the day learning hands on… the enjoying the dinner we prepared after. I cannot say enough good things about this tour.

Had a really wonderful time on this trip. I appreciated chat Alma’s cultural insights about the food we were making. I also really enjoyed the cooking and tasting aspect knowing that we were always well supervised to make sure the meal came out great. Would definitely recommend for anyone interested in learning about Mexican food with an authentic home experience!

Alma does a great job, providing both history of Mexico and knowledge about the food and it’s preparation. The groups are comfortably small and the atmosphere is friendly. Food is obviously excellent. 10/10 would recommend. Come hungry!

Chef Alma was a fantastic host! The whole experience was everything we were looking for. We had originally booked a class in Cancún through Expedia but it was canceled so we looked for one closer to our resort. The food was delicious, and because we were the only people that day it was a really great small group experience. Chef Alma mentioned that she never cancels for class size, she'll even do it 1-on-1, which is great for singles or couples to have a reliable plan. Glad we did it on our last day or all the other food we ate would have fallen short. 😊

It was a really good experience. She answered all of our questions, gave us the history of Playa del Carmen along with information about different foods, how to pick the freshest & best fruits and vegetables, where & when to buy, places to eat the best Mexican food. The food was the best. I feel I now have more knowledge when I go shopping for groceries.

I booked this cooking experience for my 13 yr old son who loves to cook. Alma is fantastic! There were 3 of us and we all agreed that this class was our favorite experience of the whole trip. Alma taught us about local history with a tour of the local market and tortilla stand. We walked to her beautiful family property where the class is held. My son loved learning how to make the salsa verde, guacamole, tortillas, mole, cilantro rice and poblano crema. Her Aunt was so sweet and helped us, we even met her mother. We made delicious Mango Margaritas and she introduced us to a yummy Mexican morning green drink. Alma also gave us recommendations for more local food spots outside the tourist areas. We also received an email from Alma the next day with all the recipes and others we are excited to make at home. If your looking for a more authentic experience I highly recommend taking a class with Alma. It was above and beyond what I expected, we loved it!

Alma not only taught us how to make traditional Mexican cuisine, we also got a fantastic history lesson about Playa and the Yucatan Peninsula. So much of the culture is wrapped up in the food that it’s hard to separate the two. Her patience and expertise make even the least experience cook feel. comfortable when preparing these dishes. Her home is absolutely gorgeous and a truly unique experience. You’ll feel like you’re transported to a traditional hacienda and the photo ops alone are truly worth the price of the class. Don’t be shy, jump right in, and you’ll definitely have a memory to last a lifetime!

Our morning with Alma was amazing! She was right on time, and gave us some history of Play Del Carmen and the surrounding area as we walked for water, breakfast, a brief tour of a tortilla factory, and to the market. She was full of information at each stop. We then headed for her family home and started cooking. We learned so many great tricks, and the food was amazing, and our tour ended with a great conversation with Alma. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!

We have enjoyed several other cooking classes in Playa Del Carmen and Cancun in past years but agree our time with Chef Alma tops the list. The menu for the day included margaritas, guacamole, fresh tortillas and pozole (a first for us). Also learned about cooking with cactus! Alma was so warm and encouraging - an inviting atmosphere in a family setting. We definitely recommend her cooking class and look forward to another class with her when we return next year.

Local shopping, history, memorable food and the tips and specifics of making this tasty cuisine (chicken, cactus and peppers mix on our homemade tortillas smothered with mole, great drinks, guacomole, side creamy pepper dish, rice)……..loved it!
