Muir Woods National Monument is a must-see destination on any visit to the San Francisco Bay Area. Just a short drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, the protected nature reserve is home to one of the world’s last remaining coastal redwood forests.

Choose from a morning or afternoon departure. Stop at a vista point for a fantastic perspective of the Golden Gate and Alcatraz, and wind through the rolling emerald hills of the Marin Headlands to arrive at Muir Woods. Stroll along forest paths surrounded by the giant redwood trees, some of which stretch as high as 250 feet (76 meters) and date back nearly 800 years.

After Muir Woods, take a short drive to the artistic bayside village of Sausalito. Capture wonderful photos of the San Francisco skyline during a stroll along the waterfront, pop into one of the many art galleries and grab a cappuccino or ice cream at a local café (own expense).

Your tour concludes with drop-off at Union Square in San Francisco or choose the option of taking the ferry back to San Francisco from Sausalito.

I enjoyed seeing Muir Woods & Sausalito. Thought the tour was interesting and our bus driver was very informative. The ferry ride back from Sausalito was a good option. My only suggestion is to check the ferry schedule when you get off the tour bus, they do change.

Need a working microphone. Often times, people in the back can’t hear the guide. Otherwise, very knowledgeable and nice.

    Thank you, Mr. Johnson!

Our tour guide and driver, Mr. Johnson, made the experience more memorable by sharing his knowledge of the San Francisco area and providing pearls of wisdom. He is well skilled in handling the bus, especially during narrow and winding roadways. Muir Woods is a well visited area, but you can still have tranquility. Sausalito was a seaside area for window shopping, a quick snack, and looking across the Bay to San Francisco or the multiple million dollar homes.

Our tour guide was awesome. He was knowledgeable and I learned a lot about the area. The woods themselves were astonishing. We returned from Sausalito via ferry so we spent a few hours in Sausalito. We ate lunch at the Spinnaker which is highly recommended... I loved the food. Overall the day was fantastic!!

Great half day trip. We went November 22, 2021. Woods were beautiful and a nice break from the city. Took the ferry back. Good views from the upper deck. Driver was great and provided narration throughout the trip.
