History and Food

My husband and I had wonderful time on Old SanJuan food tour. Our guide Nahiomy did excellent job providing historical information on San Juan and Puerto Rico as well as food. We have been on Old San Juan tours but the one was best one so far. It provided a good mix of history and food. We had five stops listed below. The walk was great to walk down the food. I would highly recommend this tour. It great to go during Christmas celebrations you get to all decorations and activities. First Stop: Cuatro Sombras - Cortadito (Expresso shot+ Milk) - Crossiant (Crossiant w/ black forest ham, havarti cheese and guava butter) Second Stop: Sr Paleta - Passion Fruit Popsicle Third Stop: Café el Punto - Alcapurria (fried plantain, yuca, yautía, beef and garlic) -Ceviche (grouper fish, lime, onions, avocado and cilantro) Fourth Stop: Patio de Sam - Piña Colada (rum, pineapple juice and coconut cream) - Mofongo (fried plantains with garlic and butter) - Chicken w/ broth - Rice - Beans Last Stop: Chocolato - Affogato (gelato + expresso shot)

We had Marjorie as our guide and she was great! She was very informative and fun. We were fed with the typical dishes of PR until our belts burst. Come hungry. We highly recommend this tour.

Itzel was awesome!

Undoubtedly, the best part of the Old San Juan Tour was our upbeat guide, Itzel! Not only did she share the history of San Juan, she included fascinating tidbits about food, Puerto Rican facts and miscellaneous fun things. I’ve always been happy with tours booked through Viatour and this one certainly didn’t disappoint!

Great tour, delicious food and Itzel, our guide, was very knowledgeable and charismatic. Wear comfy shoes, you will walk off the food in between. Have your camera ready for photos and don't eat before because you want to have room for the last dessert! Definitely recommend this tour. Buen provecho!

Very fun way to make some new friends and explore the local food scene in old San Juan! My wife and I came here for an excursion on our honeymoon and we loved it! We’ve tried food we wouldn’t have back in IL. The places we visited had good food and the tour gave us history in the past 500 years in Puerto Rico. I’d say, don’t eat before hand or you’ll be stuffed! The portions are generous and you’ll feel like you got your money’s worth. After the tour ended, my wife and I navigated our way around and re visited some of the places we went to. Valentina was very charismatic and fun to hangout with. She gave us tips and tricks to start feeling like we knew our way around. We would definitely recommend people try it out to get acquainted with the area.

A must experience for foodies with a hunger for history.

Amazing tour. The price for the food itself is not worth it. However, the expert guidance and knowledge from Valentina made this historic tour of the city well worth every dollar. Learning about OSJ and its upbringing was eye opening and thought provoking. Additionally, the story behind the foods and learning about their roots elevated the 5 or so different tastings to a whole new level. But the glue of this tour was our wonderful tour guide. Valentina’s short time as a guide is surpassed by her natural ability as a communicator. Keep doing what you love girl because you are absolutely fantastic.
